NON-SURGICAL SPINAL DECOMPRESSION
Sounds serious. Yes its is. This is one space we want to keep open at all times with no interference. When there is any type of interference, our nervous system will let us know; either immediately or gradually over time. This space is affected by disc problems, it also is an area prone to degeneration when the spinal structure has lost its alignment.
The disc is mostly made up of collagen and water. There is a positive pressure inside maintaining the disc structure keeping the vertebral bones separated. When the disc starts to break down for whatever reason, usually chronic abnormal loading (bad posture) or due to trauma of some kind, one of the first indicators we see on x-ray is a decrease in the height of the disc by way of measuring the space between the bones. X-ray is a great diagnostic tool that is safe and effective to quickly view the spinal structure. Now we have to be concerned if there is any encroachment of the nerve off the spinal cord at that level. This narrowing is called stenosis of the intervertebral foramina (IVF). If there is disc material, degenerated bone, or inflammation in or around this area the nerves will know and it is not a good situation to be in. Usually we feel pain, believe it or not, this is a good thing. The reason I say this is pain is a signal to our conscious mind making us aware that something is wrong. Unfortunately most of us don’t appreciate our bodies innate safety mechanism.
There are many degrees of damage to the disc from the ever so common disc bulge, disc herniation, disc prolapse, and to when it’s so severe that the jelly (NP), has broken out of the disc and is floating in spaces it should not. Like the intervertebral foramina to the spinal canal where the spinal cord lives.
Yes it does happen. Normally the jelly (NP) stays in the center of the disc by these round concentric fibers called the annulus fibrosus (AF). Based on the severity of spinal structure out of alignment, the history and wear and tear, the AF will be stretched by the force jelly causing some to all of the fibers breaking. When these breaks occur, our innate life force causes the disc material to send biochemical signals following the damage outwards. What happens now is theses biochemical signal reach a very small tiny nerve that connects to the outer portion of the disc. This conversation is not a good one, sending messages to the brain of pain.
NON-SURGICAL SPINAL DECOMPRESSION
Let’s talk about the technology of the DRX 9000 Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression. This medical device slowly lengthens and decompresses the spine, creating negative pressures within the discs. This reversal of pressure creates a vacuum like force that pulls the jelly back into the donut. Also, the healing and rebuilding of the disc material starts when the decompression separates the vertebral bones, causing this negative pressure within the disc, not only reabsorbing the jelly but bringing in nutrients directly out of the top and the bottom of the vertebral bones. The discs as we age stop providing blood supply to the inner 2/3rds of the disc. Therefore the decompression technology is also used as a maintenance procedure for those who might be suffering from degenerative disc disease.
The good news is that we have here in Naples Fl. The original Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression technology called the DRX 9000. This medical device was ahead of it’s time 20 years ago. It is the safest and most cost effective option someone has who suffers with any of the conditions just discussed. What are the other viable options available? Surgery, should be the last or the quickest depending on the situation. Pain Management is potentially addicting and can only lead to more pain management. Traditional Chiropractic, Acupuncture, and Physical Therapy, could help in simple cases but unfortunately most cases at this level are not simple. Therefore it’s imperative to be properly evaluated and have a recent MRI no less than a year old. Then we can best determine if the patient is a candidate for the DRX 9000 Non- Surgical Spinal Decompression.
